How far would you travel to attend the
Louisiana Society for Respiratory Care annual State Convention?
From New Orleans, or from New Roads, or from Shreveport??? How
about Saudi Arabia?
Asad Mohamed (’91) and Wazir Mohamed (’92) did make that journey from
Dhahran Medical Center this year for the 2005 Convention. Ken Duet, LSRC
President, recognized them during the convention for their efforts to attend
the meeting. They love their work but it was a big change from working
here. When they first arrived in Saudi Arabia, they pushed the vents to the
door of the ICU and left them there for someone else to use. Of course,
they got that changed…. to therapists operating the vents and having input
to patient care. Wazir is a group leader and is working on developing
protocols for bronchodilator therapeutics. Asad is in charge of the NICU.
Living and working in such a multicultural environment with healthcare
professionals from all over the world is both fascinating and frustrating.
