Departmental duties include teaching, research, clinical supervision, business management of the Audiology clinic, direction of the audiology program, and the planned Au.D. program.

AREAS OF CLINICAL-RESEARCH INTEREST

Areas of interest include pediatric audiology, newborn hearing screening, otoacoustic emissions, cochlear implants and clinical audiology. Currently completing research for a grant on VRA in 5 to 7 month old infants.

Recently completed research includes OAEs in school age children and adults' opinions of hearing aids.

PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

Education should be practical, with current applications and a solid theoretical base. All theories and techniques currently used in audiology are covered. Students will be taught how to select the ones most applicable for any audiological situation. This skill is essential for testing pediatric patients. Classes include practical lab work with lectures and reading. Current trends in audiology are discussed and evaluated.
