Yi-Po Chiu, PhD, MHS, PT
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Chiu
received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from National Cheng
Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan in 1995, and earned Master of Health Science
in 2001 and Doctor of Philosophy in 2007 from University of Florida,
Gainesville, FL.
Dr. Chiu has been actively involved in stroke upper-extremity
rehabilitation. He participated in various Constraint-Induced Movement
Therapy projects at University of Florida and Brain Rehabilitation Research
Center, Malcom Randall North Florida/South Georgia VA Medical Center,
Gainesville, FL.
Dr. Chiu joined
the faculty at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center- New
Orleans in May 2008. His teaching responsibilities include coordinating the
neuroscience, neurorehabilitation and motor control courses in the Doctor of
Physical Therapy Program. His research interest is to use the Eshkol-Wachman
Movement Notation to investigate quality of movement in individuals with
neurological impairment, such as stroke, autism and dyspraxia.
