Gregg Jones

J. Gregg Jones, P.T., A.T.C.

Clinical Instructor

Gregg Jones joined the Physical Therapy Department of the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans in 1996 as a member of the clinical faculty. He is a full-time clinical physical therapist for LSUHSC and assists in teaching in the department’s orthopaedic and manual therapy courses. Mr. Jones graduated from LSUHSC Department of Physical Therapy with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy in 1985. In December 2000, he received a certificate in a certificate of an Advanced Clinical Residency in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy. With continued progress of research he is pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree through the manual therapy clinical program. In addition, Mr. Jones holds a Bachelor's degree from LSU (1983-Baton Rouge) in Broadcast Journalism. He received his national certification in athletic training from the National Athletic Trainers Association in 1984. Mr. Jones grew up in Gonzales, LA, just 50 miles northwest (“up-river) from New Orleans, and where he graduated from East Ascension High School (1978).

For over 15 years, Mr. Jones has worked throughout Louisiana and the south in rural and metropolitan clinics and hospitals in a wide range of clinical demands. Prior to joining the department, he served as the Director of Clinical Operations for a national therapy corporation with clinic and hospital contracts from Louisiana to Missouri.

Mr. Jones has been active with the sports section of the United Cerebral Palsy Association and United States Track and Field. In the summer of 1998, Mr. Jones served on the Organizing Committee of the 1998 USA Track and Field Outdoor National Championships held here in New Orleans. He served as the Director of Therapy Services for the New Orleans Brass hockey team in the inaugural seasons (1997-2000) the East Coast Hockey League in New Orleans. As the physical therapy providers of Sports Therapy Services for the Brass, the department ensured full therapy coverage for the team with rehabilitation services throughout the year, home game coverage, and athletic training assistance. Mr. Jones has also been a certified regional classifier for the United Cerebral Palsy Athletic Association in their adaptive track and field local events (the Pel State Relay Games) since 1990.

He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the School of Allied Health's Alumni Association. Mr. Jones is a member of the American and Louisiana Physical Therapy Association and the Sports Physical Therapy Section of the APTA. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic and Manual Physical Therapy and very active in continuing education.
