President's Message

Aloma Lykes, President

The School of Allied Health Professions’ Alumni Association has spent part of this year planning for a transition. As of July 1, 2005, Dr. Jan Jeter will no longer assist the Alumni Association in the role of faculty liaison. In preparation for the transition, Michele Zitzmann has assumed the position of Interim Vice President; Gregg Jones is the Treasurer; and Kim Simmons is the Secretary. Past President, David Klein, suggested changing activities from the large group format to individual departments with separate organizational structure.

Upcoming plans include more departmental activities for alumni, continued alumni outreach under the direction of Kirk Nelson; and a fundraiser.

The Alumni Association’s Executive Committee acknowledged the hard work of our former administrative liaison, Jan Jeter. As you know Jan has put countless hours and energy into Alumni activities and scholarship fundraisers. She will devote her time solely to continuing professional development in the School.

The Executive Committee is also in a restructuring mode. Focus on individual departmental activities will take precedence over the large group get togethers. Alumni outreach events are being planned. Let us know if you would like us to visit your place of employment. Contact us if you are willing to host a small gathering.

Aloma Reed Lykes, COMD ‘76

Alumni President
