Career Opportunities
REHABILITATION COUNSELORS
The demand for counselors already exceeds the supply by at least 25
percent, and the
number of people needing rehabilitation services will rise as advances
in medical technology save more lives. Legislation requiring
equal-employment rights for persons with disabilities will also spur demand
for counselors.

Licensure/Certification
Options
A description of
licensure and
certification options is listed
under the Profession link of this website.
MHSRC students have two licensure options
upon graduation; LPC and LRC. A number of certification options exist
depending on the needs and interests of the graduate.
One of the most common certifications for RCs
is the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). The CRC examination is
administered twice a year, in the spring and the fall. The application
deadline is November 15 for the spring cycle and May 15 for the fall
cycle. Because there may be occasional administrative or post office delays,
please allow a week or two to elapse after a scheduled receipt date before
calling or writing the commission's business office. The only exception to
this request would be failure to receive your admission pass since you must
have it to be admitted to the certification examination. Please mail your
application in as early as possible to allow sufficient time for processing
before the stated deadlines. Examinations are usually scheduled on the last
Saturday of April and October.
