Mary M. Speed, M.A., PLPC, NCC earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Xavier University of Louisiana in May 2017 and completed the School Counseling curriculum at Xavier in December 2017.  During her graduate program, Mary interned with LSUHSC Child and Family Counseling Clinic providing individual play therapy, group play therapy, filial therapy, and talk therapy with children, adolescents, and families. She also has previous experience working in adult education and community outreach as a mentor, success coach, and program navigator with the Adult Education Department at Delgado Community College and the Veteran Affairs.  She holds a provisional license with the Louisiana LPC Board of Examiners, is a National Certified Counselor, is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), Association for Play Therapy (APT), and the Louisiana Counseling Association (LCA/SACES).   In addition to continuing providing services at LSUHSC CFCC, Mary is a Professional School Counselor at Young Audiences Charter School in Gretna, LA.
