Welcome to the website for the

Louisiana State University-New Orleans Physician Assistant (PA) Program

The ARC-PA has granted Accreditation- Provisional to the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center at New Orleans Physician Assistant Program.

Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status. The status indicates that the plans and resource allocation for the proposed program appear to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards, if fully implemented as planned. Accreditation-Provisional does not ensure any subsequent accreditation status. It is limited to no more than five years from matriculation of the first class.

Institutional leadership, including the Chancellor and the Dean of the School of Allied Health Professions, has been actively laying the foundation for the PA program for several years. We are very excited that you have chosen to review information about our program.

LSUHSC-NO Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program Vision Statement

The LSUHSC-NO Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program will be a leader in the education of competent, compassionate, health care providers providing access to care for the people of Louisiana.

Curriculum design

The didactic curriculum is designed to incorporate evidence-based medicine, foster the development of critical thinking skills, and instill in each student a commitment to the community. The program will educate a diverse student body who will provide culturally sensitive, patient-centered health care. These health care providers, together with their physician partners, will increase access to health care in Louisiana.

The clinical curriculum will allow the student to learn in a variety of health care settings across the state. Clinical rotation sites are being developed and venues for service learning are being identified.

Please review the website thoroughly for more information about the prerequisites, curriculum, costs, and the wonderful opportunities for learning at the flagship Health Sciences Center of Louisiana State University.
