Research and Scholarship:
My scholarly contributions have three distinct extensions. The first topic area is clinical education and
critical thinking, the second is unique clinical case reports, and the third is clinical vestibular assessment
outcomes. Some overlap exists between the educational and vestibular pieces, in that I enjoy searching
for better ways to educate our students in vestibular science. Because critical thinking is integral to the
practice of audiology, my courses, and clinical supervision, I became interested in assessing the critical
thinking skills of our cohorts.

Clinical Expertise/Interests:
I provide and supervise audiologic evaluation and intervention services for individuals from birth through the life course in the SAHP Audiology Hearing and Balance Clinic and University Medical Center’s Outpatient Otolaryngology Clinic.

I am recognized as a leading expert in the region for the assessment and management of complex vestibular and audiologic cases. My efforts have established LSU Audiologists as go-to professionals for audiological care at the University Medical Center New Orleans (UMCNO) and beyond. I am fortunate to oversee the vestibular program at LSUHSC and collaborate with a variety of referral sources. With the high demand for specialized vestibular assessments in our community, there is a need for more student training in vestibular care. I have developed strong professional relationships with otolaryngology and trauma unit physicians at UMCNO, otolaryngology teams at CHNOLA and WJGH, and other specialists in the Greater New Orleans Metro area. I have established myself as an expert audiologist for the assessment of medically complex patients.

Philosophy of Education:
In classroom teaching, I believe in building a strong foundation of basic scientific knowledge to support ethical and evidence-based practice. I incorporate clinical experience throughout the learning process and strive to foster critical thinking that supports sound clinical decision making. I currently teach Medical Audiology I and Basic Vestibular Assessment and Management in the fall semester, Medical Audiology II and Advanced Vestibular Assessment in the spring semester, and Issues in Audiology in the summer semester. I truly enjoy my time in the classroom and clinic teaching students, and I have consistently shown a willingness to add courses, patients, and clinic time to my schedule based on need in the department. Building on my foundational approach to teaching and my expertise in complex vestibular and audiologic cases, I am dedicated to imparting specialized knowledge and skills to students through my courses in medical audiology and vestibular assessment.
