The program was reviewed in February 2019 and was re-accredited until 2029.

For the past 10 years, 99% of program graduates have passed the national certification examination administered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification and obtained employment or continued their education within one year of graduation.

Medical laboratory scientists (medical technologists /clinical laboratory scientists) perform analytical tests on blood and body fluids. As vital members of the health care team, they provide information necessary for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. Medical Laboratory Science is a profession requiring precise and accurate evaluation techniques and keen problem-solving and judgment skills.

A blend of basic sciences and medicine, the program in Medical Laboratory Science educates and trains students to practice in the disciplines of hematology, immunology/serology, microbiology, chemistry, blood banking, parasitology, mycology, urinalysis, and molecular diagnostics. Medical laboratory scientists may practice in hospitals, independent commercial laboratories, clinics, physicians' offices, blood banks, public health departments, crime/forensics labs, industry, and other settings.
