SCHOLARSHIPS

Betty Lynne Theriot Scholarship

The Betty Lynne Theriot Scholarship is in honor of Betty Lynne Theriot. She was an innovative and creative educator who developed instructional methods in laboratory science. The scholarships awarded are funded by the sales of the Clinical Laboratory Science Review – A Bottom Line Approach book. Several scholarships of approximately $1500 will be awarded by the LSU Health Foundation and the Department of Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) for the final Spring semester.    The number of scholarships awarded will be based on strength of applications and available funds.

LCMC Health Pipeline Program (HPP)

The LCMC Health Pipeline Program (HPP) is an education-to-employment pathway offering forgivable financial assistance to students in select healthcare fields. In exchange for this support, students agree to work within the LCMC Health system after successfully completing their degree program.

The Scholastic Achievement Award

This award is given to a student who maintains a high GPA in our program and who exhibits excellent technical and interpersonal skills.

 Faculty Award for Excellence Award

Betty Lynne Theriot Memorial Outstanding Student Award

This award is named in memory of the MLS Department’s good friend and colleague, Betty Lynne Theriot, who was an innovative and creative educator.  Her generous donation of the rights to a Lab Science review book has allowed the MLS Department to award numerous scholarships and endow a professorship.  This award is given to the student who demonstrates excellence in all areas of the profession—academics, technical, and interpersonal skills, and the person who will make a significant contribution to our profession.
