The Department of Cardiopulmonary Science offers a bachelor's degree in Cardiopulmonary Science. The Department provides professional preparation in the allied health specialties of respiratory therapy (including polysomnography) and cardiovascular sonography (cardiac and vascular ultrasound). Applicants choose whether to enter the respiratory therapy track OR the cardiovascular sonography track.

The goals of the respiratory therapy program are 1) to prepare graduates with demonstrated competence in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains of respiratory care practice as performed by registered respiratory therapists (RRTs), and 2) to prepare leaders for the field of respiratory care by including curricular content that includes objectives related to the acquisition of skills in one or more of the following: management, education, research, and advanced clinical practice, which may include an area of clinical specialization.

The goal of the cardiovascular sonography program is to prepare cardiovascular technologists who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the professions of adult cardiac sonography and noninvasive vascular study.
