DEPARTMENT OF CARDIOPULMONARY SCIENCE
CARDIOVASCULAR SONOGRAPHY PROGRAM
According to the federal requirement of the Department of Education, Section 668.43(a)(5)(v), the Department of Cardiopulmonary Science's curriculum in cardiovascular sonography meets all requirements for licensure and certification in all states in the United States that require licensure of medical sonographers (New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon).
WHAT IS Cardiovascular Sonography?
A cardiovascular sonographer utilizes high-frequency sound (ultrasound) to provide physicians with images of the heart (echocardiogram) and vasculature.
Cardiac and vascular sonographers typically work in hospitals, physician's offices, and mobile health services, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. In 2023 the median annual salary for a sonographer was about $81,000.
